CALL FOR PAPERS
IPDS '98
IEEE International Computer Performance and Dependability Symposium
Durham, NC -- Sept. 7-9, 1998
Sponsored by:
IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Fault-Tolerant Computing
IFIP Working Group 7.3 on Performance Evaluation
IFIP Working Group 10.4 on Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance
IFIP Working Group 6.3 on Performance of Communication Systems
In cooperation with:
Center for Advanced Computing and Communication at Duke University
Clemson University
University of Vienna - Austria
OBJECTIVES
Until recently, the questions of performance and dependability of computer
systems and networks have largely evolved separately. With the advent of
parallel processing computers and high-speed networks, the two issues have
become closely related. Both design and evaluation methods must consider
the relationships between the occurrence of errors/failures and their
consequent impact on performance. This symposium is intended to bring together
researchers in the two areas with emphasis on integrating theory and practice.
Relating analytical techniques to simulations, actual measurements, and
experiments will be the broad theme of the symposium. Research relating to
hardware and software issues in parallel and distributed systems and networks
will be emphasized. The topics include but are not restricted to:
Analytical/Simulation/Measurement Techniques and Fault Injection for
Performance/Dependability and Performability applied to
Software/Hardware Systems
Real-Time Systems
Communication Systems
Distributed Systems
Parallel and Clustered Systems
