The Second European International Conference on
          Parallel and Distributed Systems (Euro-PDS'98)
                           July 1-3, 1998
                           Vienna, Austria

PURPOSE
The second International Conference on Parallel and Distributed
Systems (Euro-PDS'98) pursues the aim of becoming a major forum
for scientists, engineers and practitioners throughout the world to
present their latest research results, ideas, developments and
applications in all areas of parallel and distributed systems. It will
include keynote addresses, contributed papers, tutorials, panels and
workshops.

The purpose of the second International Conference on Parallel
and Distributed Systems is to bring together developers and
researchers from universities, industry and government to
advance the field of parallel and distributed computing. The technical
areas of the conference include: Distributed and Parallel Systems,
Architecture, Distributed Operating Systems, Distributed and Parallel
Databases, Communication Protocols, Mobile Computing, Distributed Multimedia,
Distributed Real-Time Systems, Distributed Algorithms and Languages, Tools
and Software Engineering, Distributed Resource Management and Scheduling,
Fault Tolerance, Availability, Scalability, Interoperability and Security,
Performance of Parallel and Distributed Systems.

A Web site located at http://www.iasted.com provides the latest information
on Euro-PDS'98.

LOCATION
Vienna is old - Vienna is new! Vienna has 1.8 million
inhabitants -- a metropolis with an imperial past, it is now a center of
commerce with dynamic flair, a focal point in a new Europe. Vienna is
easily accessible, offering an abundance of cultural highlights and
culinary delights as well as exquisite shopping opportunities.

Vienna is the central city of the land, home to many important persons,
and, coincidentally, the place where all fledgling adventurers start. It
must be passed through to get from the eastern ocean shore to the
Grimwall which comprises the western border of the land.

The main landmarks of Vienna consist of St. Stephan's Cathedral, Mallin's
Arena, and the world famous Bazaar. The city is also home to many visitors
and houses the most famous Inn in the land, Otto's Inn.

SCOPE
The main focus of Euro PDS'98 will be parallel and distributed computing
and systems viewed from the three perspectives of architecture and
networking, software systems and applications.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

Papers reporting original and unpublished research results and
experiences are solicited. Papers will be selected based on
their originality, significance, correctness, relevance and
clarity of presentation. Four copies of the manuscript should be submitted
to the corresponding chair prior to December 10, 1997. All papers will be
refereed following the international standards (at least three referees)
