The special issue will focus on the theme of new trends in programming and
execution models for parallel architectures, heterogeneously distributed systems
and mobile computing. Papers addressing the following topics will be considered:

programming paradigms: (integration of) task and data parallelism,
client/server and mobile computing models, distributed object oriented models,
integration of multiprocessing and multithreading;

models for emerging architectures: clusters of SMPs, virtual shared memory,
wide area networks;

application domain oriented models: databases, data mining, design and
interaction patterns for distributed OO, skeletons.

The special issue will feature a keynote paper by
Prof. Gul Agha, Director of the Open Systems Laboratory at the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Submission of Papers

Prospective authors may send a PostScript version of their full paper
(approximately 15 A4 pages) by anonymous ftp to ftp.par.univie.ac.at, and put
the paper in the directory pub/JSA/incoming. Files should be uniquely named:
<author-surname.firstname.anynumber>.ps. In addition, authors should notify by
e-mail to dimartin@par.univie.ac.at the title of the paper and full names and
addresses of the authors. Authors should complete a submission form.
The form can be found on the WWW server: http://www.par.univie.ac.at/JSA/
together with updated information.
