SPECIAL ISSUE OF PARALLEL COMPUTING
(ELSEVIER SCIENCE / NORTH-HOLLAND)
ON
HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING
IN OPERATIONS RESEARCH
(http://www.cs.few.eur.nl/few/people/kindervater/parco.html)

SCOPE
The solution of optimization problems in real world applications
usually involves an enormous amount of work in which the use of
parallel computers may be of great value. The advent of High
Performance Computer Systems (ranging from massively parallel
computers to clusters of PC's) has indeed led to substantial time
savings in solution processes. Moreover, large-sized problems have
become tractable to a much higher extent, and hence the development
of solution methods for these large-scale problems can be based on
an interaction between theory and experimentation.
The special issue of Parallel Computing aims to collect
state-of-the-art papers addressing new developments in the broad
field on the borderline of High Performance Computing and Operations
Research.
