SCOPE

     The solution of optimization problems in real world applications
     usually involves an enormous amount of work in which the use of
     parallel computers may be of great value. The advent of High
     Performance Computer Systems (ranging from massively parallel
     computers to clusters of PC's) has indeed led to substantial time
     savings in solution processes. Moreover, large-sized problems have
     become tractable to a much higher extent, and hence the development
     of solution methods for these large-scale problems can be based on
     an interaction between theory and experimentation.

     The special issue of Parallel Computing aims to collect
     state-of-the-art papers addressing new developments in the broad
     field on the borderline of High Performance Computing and Operations
     Research.

CALL FOR PAPERS

     Authors are invited to submit manuscripts of at most 20 pages
     demonstrating original unpublished research in all areas showing the
     interplay of High Performance Computing and Operations Research,
     including the development of experimental or commercial systems.

       - others
     * Libraries and tools
       - Easy-to-use packages that allow for the solution of broad
       classes of problems
     * Applications
       - Vehicle routing
       - Fleet assignment
       - Crew scheduling
       - Quadratic assignment
