Sponsor: Austrian Science Fund (FWF)

AURORA, a special research program sponsored by the Austrian
Science Fund (FWF), focuses on models, applications and
software systems for high performance computing. Particular
emphasis is placed on the research and development of algorithms,
high level languages, tools, and advanced scientific and commercial
applications, such as quantum mechanics, semiconductor simulation,
and financial optimization.

The First International AURORA Conference is a forum to discuss new
research in software and applications related to the developments
in high performance architectures.
The conference will be held at the Vienna University of Technology
on January 10-12, 2000. The program includes keynote addresses,
about 20 invited lectures, a panel discussion, and a poster session.

Keynote speakers include:

o John Connolly (University of Kentucky)
o Jack Dongarra (University of Tennessee)
o Piyush Mehrotra (ICASE, NASA Langley Research Center)
