AIMS and SCOPE:

The workshop discusses recent advances and tries to bring together different
activities in the area of visual methods, languages and formalisms for the
description, analysis and simulation of distributed and parallel software
systems. Typical topics include, but are not limited to:
+ visual parallel and distributed design and programming languages
+ tools based on visual languages and formalisms
+ visual language support of software engineering for distributed systems
+ visualization of distributed programs and designs
+ practical experiences with combinations of visual with formal methods

Note: only papers which discuss the combination of both, visual methods and
the problems of distributed/parallel software systems, are of interest.
Papers based on real-life experience with visual formalisms, languages
and tools in this area are especially welcome.

IMPORTANT DATES:

May 15, 2000 SUBMISSION deadline (email)
July 15, 2000 Notification of acceptance
August 10, 2000 Camera-Ready paper due

September 14, 2000 VMPDP Workshop

PAPER SUBMISSION and HANDLING

Prospective authors are invited to submit an original draft paper of up to
5000 words (with 100-150 word abstract, maximum of 5 keywords, contact
information for the responsable author) in postscript (readable by ghostview)
or pdf via email to guidow@math.uni-muenster.de.
The first page of the draft paper should include: title of the paper, name,
affiliation, postal address, E-mail address, telephone number, and Fax number
for each author. The first page should also include the name of the author
who will be presenting the paper (if accepted). Authors with no access to
Email may send three copies of their draft paper to Guido Wirtz (address
is given below) by the due date.
All papers will be refereed by three referees from the field; referee feedback
will be send to the authors with the final decision of acceptance/rejection.
Papers must not have been previously published or currently submitted for
publication elsewhere. The length of the Camera-Ready papers (if accepted)
will be limited to 10 pages in IEEE twocolumn format.

PROCEEDINGS AND PUBLICATION

Proceedings will be available at the workshop and in electronic format
from this workshop homepage. Selected papers will be published after
the workshop in a special issue of the Journal of Visual Languages
and Computing (JVLC, Vol.12 No. 1, scheduled for Feb 2001).
