CALL FOR PAPERS
4th IEEE D S - R T ' 2000
Fourth IEEE International Workshop on
Distributed (Interactive) Simulation and Real Time Applications
San Fransisco, California, USA
Augst 25-27th, 2000
www.cs.unt.edu/~boukerch/DS2000
SCOPE
In its fourth year, the 2000 International Workshop on Distributed
Simulation and Real Time Applications (DS-RT'2000), will take place at the
Canterbury Hotel, San Fransisco, CA.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
DS-RT'2000 serves as a forum for simulationists from academia, industry and
research labs, for presenting recent research results in Distributed Simulation,
and Real Time Applications. DS-RT'2000 targets the growing overlap between
large distributed simulations and real time applications. The conference
features prominent invited speakers as well as papers by top researchers in
the field. DS-RT'2000 will include contributed technical papers, invited
papers, and panel discussions. The proceedings will be published by IEEE-CS
press.
WORKSHOP CALL-FOR-PAPERS
Authors are encouraged to submit both theoretical and practical results of
significance. Demonstration of new tools/applications are very desirable.
The scope of the workshop includes, but is not limited to:
o Interactive Virtual Reality, Multi-User Virtual Reality, Interactive
Simulation in Entertainment;
o Implementation issues; (e.g., general purpose distributed simulation);
o Algorithms and Methods for Distributed Interactive Simulation;
(e.g.: event synchronization, network time protocols.
o Applications of Distributed Simulation
(e.g., real time DS, non-real time DS,large distributed simulation systems);
o Distribution Management
o Multi-resolution modeling;
o Distributed Simulation and Real Time Applications.
o Current Critical Design Issues
(e.g.: causality, simultaneous events, zero look-ahead,
o compensation for slower than real time);
o Algorithms and Studies relating to existing protocols
(e.g.: HLA, DIS and ALSP);
o Methodology for Distributed Simulation;
o Interface Definition, Communication, Management, Security;
o Performance of Distributed Simulation;
(e.g., benchmark, theoretical studies, and empirical studies);
o Dead-Reckoning Mechanisms;
o Visual Interactive Simulation (e.g., generic animation, visual interactive
modeling, interactive computer based learning);
o Animating Language Tools, Visualization Tools for Computational Process
under Simulation;
o Language and Modeling Issues
o Modeling and Simulation Environment for Real Time Concurrent Systems;
o Influence of Network-Centric Systems (such as Java, and DCOM) on DIS;
o Network support for distributed simulation and real-time systems
(QoS requirements and their realization, multicast for distributed/real-time
simulation systems);
o Applications of Web-Based Simulation (Modeling Global Internet, etc.)
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Papers should be written in English and should not exceed 20 pages. Papers must
be unpublished and must not be submitted for publication elsewhere. Authors
are encouraged to submit papers in electronic form to either program co-chair:
Paul Reynolds (reynolds@virginia.edu), or Mark Pullen (mpullen@gmu.edu),
postscript or Microsoft Word 6.0 (or higher) only. Hardcopy papers can also be
submitted, in which case four copies are required. Each submission, electronic
or paper, must be accompanied by the following information: a short abstract,
a complete list of authors and their affiliations, a contact person for
correspondence, postal and e-mail addresses.
Updated information may be retrieved from the web using the URL:
