PRE- AND POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS

                  Software Competence Center Hagenberg

The Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH) invites
candidates for PRE- and POSTDOCTORAL positions within the
SOFTWARE and DATABASE ENGINEERING area.

Prefered areas for appointments include, but are not limited to:
web engineering, distributed component architectures,
electronic commerce systems, and enterprise security.
We are also interested in the interactions of computer science
with other disciplines, especially machine learning, human
language technology, symbolic, and numeric computation.

Candidates are required to have:
(a) a Ph.D. or an undergraduate degree in software engineering,
computer science, information systems, or closely related fields,
(b) impressive communications capabilities
(c) for the predoctoral position, willingness to continue their
studies toward a Ph.D.
(d) experience with technology transfer projects, industrial projects

The SCCH (http://www.scch.at/) is a competence center in the
sense of the Kplus program of the Austrian Federal Government
(http://www.bmwf.gv.at/) and has been created by the cooperation
of five institutes of the Johannes Kepler University of Linz
(http://www.uni-linz.ac.at/), two branches of the "Fachhochschule"
(Polytechnic University, http://www.fhs-hagenberg.ac.at/), and fifteen
companies each working in various areas of software. The research and
development activities of the SCCH concentrate on five areas,
namely, software technology (SWT), database technology (DBT),
knowledge-based technology (KBT), symbolic computation (SYM), and
numeric computation (NUM) corresponding to the research focus of
the five partaking university institutes.
The SCCH offers a collegial, supportive environment, with mechanisms
established to encourage interdisciplinary activities.
