AURORA is a special research program sponsored by the Austrian Science Fund
(FWF)  focusing  on models,  applications  and  software  systems  for high
performance  computing.  Particular  emphasis is placed on the research and
development  of  algorithms,  high level  languages,  tools,  and  advanced
scientific  and  commercial  applications,  such as quantum  mechanics  and
financial optimization.

The  International  AURORA  Workshop on Grid  Computing  2001 is a forum to
discuss  new  research  in  software  and   applications   related  to  the
developments   in  Grid   architectures.  The  program   includes   keynote
addresses, invited lectures and a panel discussion.

       Alexander Reinefeld (Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum Berlin, Germany)
