Der Trend zur Informatisierung und Vernetzung aller Dinge
Pervasive und Ubiquitous Computing

In letzter Zeit ist immer =F6fter die Rede vom "Pervasive Computing" =
oder
"Ubiquitous Compu-
ting". Darunter wird die Allgegenw=E4rtigkeit von nahezu mikroskopisch
kleinen, miteinander=20
=FCber Funk kommunizierenden Computern verstanden, mit denen in Zukunft
beliebige All-
tagsgegenst=E4nde ausgestattet werden k=F6nnen.
Bedingt durch weiter anhaltende Fortschritte in der Mikroelektronik,
Kommunikationstechnik=20
und Materialwissenschaft scheinen Visionen einer umfassenden
Informatisierung und Ver-
netzung fast aller Dinge in den n=E4chsten Jahren tats=E4chlich
realisierbar. Mikroprozessoren,=20
die miniaturisierte Sensoren enthalten und so die Umwelt erfassen
k=F6nnen, lassen sich=20
dann sehr billig herstellen und unsichtbar in Gegenst=E4nde einbauen. =
Dies
verleiht gew=F6hnli-
chen Dingen eine noch nie dagewesene zus=E4tzliche Qualit=E4t: diese =
wissen
dann, wo sie=20
sich gerade befinden, welche anderen Gegenst=E4nde oder Personen in der
N=E4he sind und=20
was in der Vergangenheit mit ihnen geschah. Wenn aber in Zukunft viele
"smarte" Alltags-
gegenst=E4nde - dann oft in autonomer Weise - Informationen austauschen,
Zugriff auf belie-
bige Ressourcen im Internet haben und sich dem Menschen gegen=FCber
angepa=DFt verhalten,=20
dann f=FChrt dies zu einer ver=E4nderten Wahrnehmung unserer Umwelt. =
Dies
d=FCrfte mit Sicher-
heit gr=F6=DFere wirtschaftliche und soziale Auswirkungen haben und =
k=F6nnte
damit schlie=DFlich=20
sogar ein Politikum werden; in jedem Fall stellt eine Welt
kommunikationsfreudiger Objekte=20
eine besondere Herausforderung f=FCr "Privacy" und Datenschutz dar.
Im Vortrag wird dargestellt, wie weit die Technik hinsichtlich der
Realisierung solcher Vision=20
derzeit schon ist und welche Chancen und Perspektiven sich auch in
wirtschaftlicher Hin-
sicht ergeben k=F6nnten. Dabei werden erste Ans=E4tze f=FCr eine =
Infrastruktur
"intelligenter" Din-
ge, die an der ETH Z=FCrich entstanden sind, vorgestellt.
