==================== EUC2004 CALL FOR PAPERS ==========================
               The 2004 International Conference on
            Embedded And Ubiquitous Computing (EUC'2004)

             Aizu-Wakamatsu City, Japan, 26-28 August 2004
                  http://oscar.u-aizu.ac.jp/EUC2004

Embedded and Ubiquitous computing are emerging rapidly as exciting
new paradigms and disciples to provide computing and communication
services all the time, everywhere. Its systems are now invading
every aspect of life to the point that they are disappearing inside
all sorts of appliances or can be worn unobtrusively as part of
clothing and jewelry etc.

This emergence is a natural outcome of research and technological
advances in embedded systems, pervasive computing and communications,
wireless networks, mobile computing, distributed computing and agent
technologies, etc. Its explosive impact on academics, industry,
government and daily life can be compared to that of electric motors
over the past century but promises to revolutionize life much more
profoundly than elevators, electric motors or even personal computer
evolution ever did.

The EUC-04 conference provides a forum for engineers and scientists
in academia, industry, and government to address all resulting
profound challenges including technical, safety, social, legal,
political, and economic issues, and to present and discuss their
ideas, results, work in progress and experience on all aspects
of embedded and Ubiquitous computing. Topics of particular interest
include, but are not limited to:

* Embedded Computing Track:
- Embedded Hardware and Software
- Embedded System Architecture
- Hardware/Software Co-design
- Real-time Systems
- Testing and Verification
- Application-specific Processors and Devices
- Power-aware Computing
- Sensor Networks
- Applications
- System/Network-on-Chip
- Reconfiurable Computing
- Others and emerging new topics

* Ubiquitous Computing Track:
- Pervasive Computing & Comms.
- Middleware
- Internet Computing and Applications
- Multimedia Systems
- Peer-to-Peer Communication
- Network Protocols
- Wireless Communication & Networks
- Agents and Mobile Computing
- Security and Fault Tolerant Systems
- User Interface Technologies
- Human-computer Interaction
- Applications

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Submissions should include an abstract, 5-10 keywords, the e-mail
address of the corresponding author, and must not exceed 25 pages,
including tables and figures, with PDF, PostScript, or MS Word
format. Submission of a paper should be regarded as an undertaking
that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors
will attend the conference to present the work.

Submissions to ICEUC-04 will be conducted electronically on the
conference website. Authors unable to access Internet may send
4 hard copies of the paper to:
Prof. Laurence T. Yang
Department of Computer Science
St. Francis Xavier Univ.

Email: lyang@stfx.ca
Tel: 1-902 867 5546 Fax: 1-902 867 3302

IMPORTANT DATES

Paper submission due: 16 April 2004
Acceptance notification: 31 May 2004
Camera-ready due: 14 June 2004

Conference: 26-28 August 2004

PUBLICATIONS

The accepted papers have to be presented orally within 25 minute
included discussion at the conference and will be published in
proceedings of the ICEUC-04 conference by Springer-Verlag's Lecture
Note in Computer Science (LNCS). The selected best papers will be
published in special issues of Journal of Embedded Computing (JEC)
and Journal of Pervasive Computing and Communications (JPCC).

BEST PAPER AWARDS

The program committee will select one winner for the Best Paper
Award (all regular papers are eligible) and one winner for the
Best Student Paper Award (only the regular papers whose first
author is a full-time student are eligible). Each winner will
be presented at the conference with a certificate and US$300.
