I2TS´2004 CALL FOR PAPERS

The 3rd International Information and Telecommunication Technologies
Symposium
UFSCar - São Carlos, Brazil, 6 - 9 December, 2004

The International Information and Telecommunication Technologies Symposium
(I2TS'2004) will take place at the Universidade Federal de São Carlos,
in São Paulo, Brazil. I2TS'2004 serves as an international forum for people
from
academia, industry and research labs, for presenting recent research results
in Information Technology Applications, and Telecommunications Systems.
I2TS'2004 includes Technical Sessions, Tool Sessions, Poster Sessions,
Panels,
Tutorials, MiniCourses and Workshops. Authors are encouraged to submit both
theoretical and practical results of significance. Demonstration of new
tools/applications
is very desirable. The scope of the symposium includes, but is not limited
to:

- Real-Time and Multimedia Systems
- Collaborative 3D Virtual Environments (Extensibility, Persistency,
Interoperability, Scalability, Composability, Adaptability to heterogeneous
devices, Security, etc., in 3D virtual environments)
- Modeling and Simulation
- Safety-critical computing systems (Supervision and control systems,
Development, Safety assurance, Management, Applications, etc.)
- Security and Privacy
- Web-Based Systems and their Applications
- Formal Methods and Validation Techniques
- Applications and Case Studies

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
High-quality original papers are solicited. Papers must be unpublished and
must not be submitted for publication elsewhere. All papers will be reviewed
by
Technical Program Committee members and other experts active in the field to
ensure high quality and relevance to the conference. Authors of accepted
papers must attend the conference to present their contributions. The format
of the papers should follow IEEE two columns style. The length of the papers
are as follows: 10 pages for Full papers, 4 pages for Posters and 2 pages
for
Tool description. Papers must be submitted electronically through the EDAS
system at https://submissoes.sbc.org.br/i2ts2004.

ENGLISH AND PORTUGUESE/SPANISH TRACKS
I2TS´2004 will have two tracks: English and Portuguese/Spanish. Authors of
both regular and tool papers for either track should submit their papers in
electronic form (PDF, PostScript or MSWord) only. The papers should not
exceed 10 pages (see Submission of Papers in the web page). All papers will
be peer reviewed and the comments will be provided to the authors. The
abstract
proceedings will be published in hard copy; and the full proceedings will be
published in CD-ROM - both with the same ISBN number. For the English track,
a special issue will be planned in an international journal containing
selected best papers written in English only.

POSTER SESSION
Authors are encouraged to submit both preliminary and advanced work on the
scope and topics of the I2TS Call for Papers. Poster presentations will
provide
authors with early feedback on their research work and enable them to
exchange ideas during the Symposium. All posters will be reviewed.
Accepted Posters will be on display during the Symposium. Poster proposals
must be submitted as a single pdf file with no more than 4 pages, containing
a
summary of the research content of the poster, along with title, authors,
institutional affiliations and contact information.

WORKSHOPS
Authors wishing to organize a workshop, should please contact Prof. Mirela
Sechi Moretti Annoni Notare at mirela@barddal.br.

TOOL SESSION
The tools papers (extended abstracts) will undergo a regular review process
and will be published in the conference proceedings in a dedicated tool
session.
Authors are encouraged to submit papers describing tools suitable for
on-line demonstration. Standard microcomputers will be available for tool
sessions.
Authors wishing to submit a tool paper should please send a single pdf file
with no more than 2 pages to Prof. Mirela Sechi Moretti Annoni Notare at
mirela@barddal.br

TUTORIALS and MINI-COURSES
Proposals for half-day or full-day Tutorials/MiniCourses are solicited on
timely topics related to the above areas. The proposal must include
description and
biographies of the speakers. Authors wishing to propose a tutorial or a
workshop, should please contact Prof. Mirela Sechi Moretti Annoni Notare at
mirela@barddal.br
