  2nd Austrian Grid Symposium
  University of Innsbruck, Austria
  September 21-23, 2006

  http://www.austriangrid.at/symposium

Deadline: July 13, 2006

The Austrian Grid Initiative is the national initiative in Austria
to set up and support grid computing in general, and to provide
coordination and collaboration between research areas actively
involved and interested in grid computing. The Austrian Grid
Consortium combines Austria's leading researchers in advanced
computing technologies with well-recognized partners in
grid-dependant application areas.

This is the second symposium organized by the Austrian Grid partners
to demonstrate results of the cooperation. The symposium
will be a forum for the institutions deploying the Austrian Grid
infrastructure, for the Austrian developers of grid middleware
extensions, and for the users of the Austrian Grid infrastructure
to meet each other, share ideas and experience, and discuss future
directions of the national grid efforts. Moreover, the symposium
will gather an international research community that works on the
development and application of state of the art Grid technology and reports
on experience with Grid applications.

Main topics of the symposium will be as follows:

* Grid infrastructure deployment and management
* Grid security and authentication services
* Grid middleware services
* Scientific visualization on the grid
* Grid user interfaces and web portals
* Multimedia encoding and transportation in the grid
* Data base access and data mining on the grid
* Grid programming environments
* Grid-enabled applications and grid-dependant application domains

SUBMISSION INFORMATION

Contributors are invited to submit an extended abstract not exceeding
4 pages in English. The selection of presentations for the symposium will
be based on the evaluation of the extended abstracts by the program committee.

Presented papers at the symposium will be invited to submit
a full paper of 10 - 15 pages in camera ready format for the post-conference

CONFERENCE VENUE:

The conference is held in the City of Innsbruck,
which hosted the olympic winter games twice,
is located in the beautiful surroundings of the Tyrolean Alps. The
combination of the Alpine environment and the urban life in this
historically grown town provides a high quality of living. The
university has a long tradition dating back to the 16th century,
and, with seven schools (Theology, Law, Economics and Social
Sciences, Medicine, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Civil Engineering
and Architecture), it offers a wide spectrum of research and teaching
activities and interesting opportunities for interdisciplinary
collaboration. Besides, the Country of Tyrol strongly supports
various initiatives in the IT domain. It founded a Center
of Information and Communication Technology as a forum for tight
interactions between the University of Innsbruck, the University
of Applied Sciences, and industrial partners.

The conference participants are accomodated in Innsbruck.
