Hi all,
I just bought a USB webcamera marketed by dynalink (www.dynalink.com), it
is identical in its looks to the EZcam. I have been trying to get it to
work under linux without any success... I have tried almost everything
on the v4l and v4l2 webpages!! Here is my setup:
1. Dual Celeron 588MHz Abit BP6 128mb ram system. System bios v1.21
2. Linux 2.3.31 and also Linux 2.2.13 patched with HPT366, LMSensors
3. No APCI at boot time.
4. No plug-and-play in the bios or in the kernel
5. With APCI I get the following hw errors:
Dec 12 21:41:15 guna kernel: APIC error interrupt on CPU#0, should never
happen.
Dec 12 21:41:15 guna kernel: ... APIC ESR0: 00000002
Dec 12 21:41:15 guna kernel: ... APIC ESR1: 00000002
Dec 12 21:41:15 guna kernel: ... bit 1: APIC Receive CS Error (hw
problem).
Dec 12 21:43:06 guna kernel: APIC error interrupt on CPU#0, should never
happen.
Dec 12 21:43:06 guna kernel: ... APIC ESR0: 00000002
Dec 12 21:43:06 guna kernel: ... APIC ESR1: 00000006
Dec 12 21:43:06 guna kernel: ... bit 1: APIC Receive CS Error (hw
problem).
Dec 12 21:43:06 guna kernel: ... bit 2: APIC Send Accept Error.
6. USB drivers that come standard with 2.3.31 work:
===================================================
The sequence was usbcore, usb-uhci, videodev, and cpia
Dec 13 13:40:26 guna kernel: usbcore: Registered new driver hub
Dec 13 13:40:28 guna kernel: New USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1
Dec 13 13:40:28 guna kernel: uhci_connect_change: called for 0
Dec 13 13:40:29 guna kernel: USB new device connect, assigned device
number 1
Dec 13 13:40:29 guna kernel: Product: USB Camera
Dec 13 13:40:33 guna kernel: Linux video capture interface: v1.00
Dec 13 13:40:36 guna kernel: usbcore: Registered new driver cpia
Dec 13 13:40:36 guna kernel: USB CPiA camera found
7. I dont have any devices in /proc/cpia, /proc/usb as is mentioned in the
documentation, inspite of the loaded modules.
8. Problems: gqcam hangs the sytem stiff. Kernel hangs, and even the
network driver hangs, so it needs a hard reset. The camera does not do
anything, vctrl does not work either. When I patch up the kernel for v4l2
the kernel does not compile (erros at videodev.c).
9. Has anyone had any success with USB cameras in any 2.3.31 or 2.2.13
kernels?
Thanks,
Naresh
