Dear CPIA developers,

I am very excited about the idea of using USB on my Linux
platform. I went out and got myself a camera that was listed under
supported CPIA cameras. I compiled and installed a linux 2.3.41 kernel on
my machine. However, I could not get the CPIA driver to work. After some
investigation, I discovered that my camera has the product ID 052b:d001,
which is different than the module expected. I modified the module to
ignore the product ID, but of course it still does not work. On closer
expection, there appears to be three Ezonics web cameras: the EZ Cam, the
EZ Cam Pro, and the EZ Cam Plus. It looks to me that the EZ Cam is a CPIA
camera, but what are the other two? Are there, or will there be drivers
for the Pro or Plus? If not, how about specifications?
Also, if the EZ Cam Pro is not supported with the CPIA driver, I
humbly suggest mentioning it on your home page. It could be misleading for
those of us who try to buy only hardware supported by Linux.

In case it's just a bug in my system, here's my setup:

Linux 2.3.41 compiled with USB and Video 4 Linux as modules.
Mandrake 6.1 OS, with Pentium II hardware, using usb-uhci.

Thanks for any help you can offer. Let me know if you want the full USB
trace of this camera in syslog, it was quite long.

Sincerely,
Terence Haddock
