[Gb-phd] Special Semester on Gröbner Bases and Related Methods 20 06

Dear PhD student,

You sent an application for participating in the special semester on GB.
For selecting the successful candidates we need the following additional
documents:


1. an application letter, 
2. a curriculum vitae and a photograph, 
3. a list of all courses that you have taken during your university
studies, including the number of hours credited and the grades, 
4. a copy of your master's thesis or any other publications, if
available (you can also send a link where we can download these
documents or send them  via email or mail),
5. for non-native English speaking applicants a certificate of knowledge
of the English language, preferably a TOEFL certificate, 
6. a confirmation of a university in your home country stating that you
are qualified to study for a Ph.D. there, 
7. at least two written recommendations, preferably by international
scientists. One of the written recommendations has to be from your PhD
supervisor.


Please send us also the following informations:

*) when did you finish highschool, 
*) when did you finish your master degree, and 
*) who is your supervisor.

By now we already have a preliminary schedule for 4 research focus
lines:

A. Introduction to GB Theory and Applications in Commutative Algebra 
B. Computations of GB 
C. Formal GB Theory
D. Recent Applications of GB


Each focus line will start with one or several workshops: 


A. Workshop Feb 6-Feb 17
B1. Workshop Feb 20-Feb 24: Approximate Commutative Algebra 
B2. Workshop Feb 27-Mar 3: Efficient Computation of GB
C. Workshop Mar 6-Mar 10:  Formal GB Theory
D1. Workshop Apr 24-Apr 28: GB and Differential Equations
D2. Workshop May 2-May 5: GB and Cryptography

All other weeks in the period of the special semester (Feb 1-July 31)
are devoted to joint research etc. for the phd students, postdocs,
junior and senior researchers 

participating in the special semester.
