allergisch sind. Anders als in skandinavischen L=E4ndern, in denen die Za=
hl der Allergiker aus kaum erfindlichen Gr=FCnden ein Plateau erreicht zu=
 haben scheint, steigen bei uns die Zahlen.

Einen Grund hierf=FCr sehen Allergieexperten in der immer sterileren Umwe=
lt. So wachsen viele Kinder in naturarmen St=E4dten auf und haben wenig K=
ontakt zu Tieren.

Auch die Ausbreitung von Allergien in Deutschland vor und nach der Wende =
1989 ist f=FCr Allergieforscher interessant. W=E4hrend in der DDR etwa f=FC=
nf Prozent der Kinder an Asthma litten, sind es mittlerweile auf dem glei=
chen Gebiet etwa zehn Prozent. Der Unterschied zwischen West- und Ostdeut=
schland hat sich ausgeglichen. Kinder von Einwandererfamilien und aus soz=
ial schwachen Verh=E4ltnissen sind weniger h=E4ufig betroffen, wie die Ro=
bert-Koch-Studie ergab. Auch Untersuchungen an bayerischen Kindern vom La=
nd best=E4tigen die =84Dreck-Theorie=93 der Allergieexperten. Die lautet =
kurz gefasst: Wer viel im Dreck spielt, ist weniger allergiegef=E4hrdet. =
Diese Beobachtungen haben Berliner Forscher dazu gebracht, eine neue Art =

Derzeit geben sie 600 Kleinkindern im Abstand von einem Tag kleine Mengen=
 einer Fl=FCssigkeit zu trinken, die Reste von Zellw=E4nden zweier Bakter=
ienarten enth=E4lt. Die Forscher hoffen, damit das Immunsystem der Babys =
vor =DCberreaktionen zu sch=FCtzen. =84Im Idealfall sollte diese Schlucki=
mpfung unspezifisch wirken, also jeder allergischen Sensibilisierung vorb=
