Dear gb-sf members,

in the attachment, as a first experiment using the gb-sf mailing list, 
please find the work plan discussed in Strobl.

Meanwhile we already hat the following technical meetings:

-  Jan Valdman, Wolfgang Windsteiger, Bruno Buchberger met on solving the 
special bivariate systems with parameter occurring in the plastic plain 
project and we met some definite progress, on which we will report. Please 
forget the 48 - which was the number of hours the GB algorithm was 
allegedly working on these examples - btw it is also the name of a cleaning 
company in Vienna.  It turned out that the result can be achieved in 
approx. 2 minutes.  However, a much more systematic study is necessary.


- Ralf Hemmecke gave a short presentation of the Aldor system in the 
Theorema seminar demonstrating how the Groebner bases functor presentation 
within Theorema which I showed in Strobl can also be programmed in 
Aldor.  We will meet again in a smaller group for comparing computing times.

I am looking for someone who is interested in a PhD thesis on Groebner 
bases theory as part of a major project on GB that will also aim at 
building up a computerized GB knowledge base accessible over a web site and 
the organization of a special semester on GB within RICAM.  I had some 
expressions of interest from around the world but  did not yet make a 
decision.  If you can recommend somebody, please, let me know.
