*Fields Institute Thematic Program on Computer Algebra (Fall 2015)*

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to participate in the Fields Institute Thematic Program on
Computer Algebra being held this year from July to December 2015 at the
Fields Institute in Toronto.

The thematic program focuses on current and emerging areas of importance
in computer algebra: symbolic linear algebra, algorithms for algebraic
and semi-algebraic geometry, hybrid symbolic-numeric computing,
algorithms for differential algebra and symbolic combinatorics, and
certified algorithms.

Information on the semester can be found at

http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/programs/scientific/15-16/computeralgebra/

with the site being regularly updated. Registration for the workshops is
now open at

http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/cgi-bin/register?form_selection=computeralgebra

*Events *

The program takes place from July until December of 2015 with a
highlight being three workshops in leading areas of computer algebra.
The three workshops and their dates are

September 14 - 19: Workshop on Symbolic Combinatorics and
Computational Differential Algebra

October 26 - 31: Workshop on Linear Computer Algebra and
Symbolic-Numeric Computation

December 7 - 16: Workshop on Algebra, Geometry and Proofs in
Symbolic Computation

The program includes the Coxeter Lecture Series, a series of three talks
being given during the last week of October by Victor Shoup of the
Courant Institute. In addition we expect that informal talks will occur
throughout the term as visitors and students arrive for their research
stays.

*Postdoctoral Fellowships and Support *

Applications are invited for postdoctoral fellowship positions during
the Thematic Program. The fellowships provide for a period of engagement
in research and participation in the activities of the Fields Institute.
They may be offered in conjunction with partner universities, through
which a further period of support may be possible. Additional
information including application procedures can be found at the
programs website.

*Visitor Support *

There are a number of openings for the support of researchers who wish
to stay for longer periods - two weeks or more - during the thematic
program. Please send all requests including dates and additional
information to glabahn at cs.uwaterloo.ca.

Postdoctoral fellows and PhD students from other centers are encouraged
to attend. Support is available for several fellows and students.
Please send any such request to glabahn at cs.uwaterloo.ca.

*Graduate Courses *

Two graduate level courses will be offered during the fall semester. The
courses include :

    Introduction to Computer Algebra

    Topics in Computer Algebra
