Dear friends,
Over the past months, I have helped to identify a couple of important goals
for RISC (the SCML and SCDDE 2026 conferences, the RISC European College,
the RISCAI project, and system), and we have had a couple of discussions on
these goals. I also promised to help with a couple of concrete working
units for achieving these goals (raising the funds for invited speakers at
SCML, establishing the contact to the UA Govt for re-funding RISC
directly, raising funds for 6 REC students fellowships from companies,
initiating the design of the SCML master's curriculum, initiating the RISAI
brainstorming, organizing a building for REC, ...). Basically, I completed
these working units - except for some loose ends which I will fix soon.
However, from now on, I cannot devote any more time for achieving these
additional goals because I want to focus again my other personal goals
(including resuming my own research in SCML).
For a clear cut, I composed a list of tasks that, in my opinion, have to be
completed in order to achieve the above goals. I sent this list to Carsten
and Wolfgang F. They will decide how to proceed and set priorities. In my
view, actions for attracting, selecting, and financing REC students should
have highest priority.
I hope you understand my decision to focus again on my personal goals. I do
hope that RISC will achieve the goals we discussed. In particular, I think
it will be vital for a sustainable future of RISC to build up a strong
cohort of graduate students again.
Of course, if necessary, I will always be available for ad hoc activities
and advice.
Best regards and wishes, Bruno.
