Dear All,
welcome to be a members of the RISC (study) board.
I am looking forward to see you at our first meeting, this Monday:
*February 2, 10:30-12:00 at the seminar room of the RISC extension
building.*
Alternatively, you may join via Zoom:

Meeting-ID: 998 4351 1497
Passwort: 024294
Let me once more summarize the main goal (and maybe others to be
discussed in our first meeting).
RISC is currently working on the establishment of a RISC European
College based on the Master’s program /Computational Mathematics/, with
a specialization in /Symbolic Computation (SC)/and a particular focus on
the combination of Symbolic Computation and Machine Learning.
Our goal is to launch this initiative in the coming winter semester with
an initial cohort of approximately 15-20 students. To support this
effort, we plan to establish a *RISC (Study) Board*that brings together
RISC researchers who are interested in this initiative and willing to
contribute to its development.
Members of the RISC Board would be involved, as appropriate, in the
following activities:
*
discussing and designing the study plan for the planned RISC College,
*
proposing topics for Master’s theses,
*
advising or co-advising Master’s students and their theses,
*
contributing to lectures, in particular at the interface of Symbolic
Computation and Machine Learning,
*
helping to promote the Master’s program and the planned RISC College
(but also our two conferences in July) by reaching out to colleagues
in research institutes and industry to attract strong candidates.
In our first meeting of the RISC Board we plan to discuss the details
and how initiate/distribute the different tasks optimally.
I am looking forward to see you next Monday!
With best wishes,
Carsten
