lets not forget to mention the availability of drivers for 'Frame Grabers'

The inherent advantages are:
- not limited to the max databandwith of USB or Printerport
- possibility to avoid these motion ghosts caused by the camera having to
precompress (or doing that imperfectly) and only tranfer changes greater
than something
- full random access the the scanfield
- video signals can be extended longer than 5 meters (usb Limit)
- many different devices deliver video standard signals
- usualy higher framerates

Disadvantage:
- needs to be installed inside the computer
- analog signal tranfer ?

Anyhow I dont have a framegraber yet
I'd like to find out more about those myself - would be curious to know if
you find something good ...
I know there is a webcam :(not too famous resolution): that offers wireless
transfer (think using buetooth) up to 15 m from X10.com
with video standard signal

Only digital technology that can really compete with the quality achivable
with this is maybe firewire
Havent heard about pure firewire webcams yet
And its linux support is at best new too...

cheers
