[cpia] webcam ii in linux, quality of pic

I got my usb webcam ii working in linux, but the quality is somewhat shoddy.

same with camstream and xawtv

obviously the file size is much smaller than the next one, but im showing
the increase in quality...

that's taken in windows.

and then, with my old parallel port quickcam2(which gets lower resolution
than webcam ii)

good quality, small file size.


Is it possible to get the quality of the 2nd or 3rd picture with webcam ii
in linux?
what am i doing wrong?
